Hurricane Ridge

We made a trip to Hurricane Ridge and other destinations in the Olympic Mountains last week-end. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as this had really been the first time in a few months we had the time to spend so much time together exploring nature.

This waterfall was in the Elwa Valley above Mills Lake.

A wonderful view of Mills Lake from the boat launch. Yes the lake does disappear around the corner and up the canyon. We were the only ones at the lake this afternoon.

This tree reminded us of a Bozai. It was naturally growing from a rock outcropping with these flowers and is maybe 8 inches high.

The view from the Hurricane Hill trail was outstanding. It was amazing how the climates changed almost from minute to minute. The low cloads you see were pushing in from the Straits and up the Valleys until it started over the ridge line. There it would run into the north bound air flow and radically shift direction. You may be able to notice this as the clouds curl a little in the pictures.
